Science Park Phase 3a & 3b construction commenced

Gammon Construction Limited has been awarded a HK$2.18 billion building contract for the development of the Hong Kong Science Park Phase 3a & 3b.
     The project, which is part of the Phase 3 development, includes the construction of three 8 to 9 storey Research & Development Office and Laboratory Buildings with basement carpark, services tunnels and link bridge between buildings, covering a construction floor area of 105,000 sq m.
     The development will showcase the latest green construction technologies and sustainable building design, including the application and installation of natural ventilation, energy-efficient system, renewable energy such as photovoltaic. Every detail plays its part in the development's vision of being a green role model for Hong Kong.
     Within the project, at least one of the buildings will be targeting the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum standard. In any event, all buildings in the project are targeted to meet the strict Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HKBEAM) Plus Platinum standard.
     Construction has started in June and the project will be completed by December 2013.
