More 3rd runway data available

The Airport Authority submitted more information for the project profile on the expansion of Hong Kong International Airport into a three-runway system. It includes data on marine ecology, noise, health, and hazards. The deadline for public comments is July 13.
Under the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance, members of the public have two weeks to forward written comments on the newly submitted information and the project profile to the Director of Environmental Protection.
The authority's Deputy Director Kevin Poole said the information provided, together with the project profile submitted earlier, represents the first step of a planned two-year process.
Once the authority receives the Environmental Impact Assessment Study Brief from the Director of Environmental Protection, it will conduct extensive, comprehensive studies to thoroughly assess the environmental impact that could arise from a three-runway system.
"All study findings and possible mitigation measures will be included in our Environmental Impact Assessment report, which will be issued for public review at an appropriate time in the future," he said.
Further information concerning the project profile is available for public inspection on the airport's website and the website of Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance. It will also be available at the Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance Register Office; the Environmental Resources Centres at Wan Chai, Tsuen Wan and Fanling; and the Tuen Mun, Tsuen Wan and Islands District Offices.
