The installation of a 33.5km long optical fibre submarine cable has been proposed for a 1.68 hectare area from Tseung Kwan O to the eastern boundary of Hong Kong waters.
     The Lands Department said today the cable is a section of the Asia Submarine-cable Express, a 7,200km long system providing telecommunications services across East Asia.
     The proposed works are scheduled to start in June for completion by October.
