Kwun Tong Line work to commence in 2011
The proposed amendments to the MTR Kwun Tong Line Extension scheme were gazetted. The scheme involves a 2.6 km railway extending from Yau Ma Tei Station on the Kwun Tong Line with two new stations in Ho Man Tin and Whampoa. Passengers can interchange at Ho Man Tin Station for the future Sha Tin to Central Link.
The amendments will address public concerns expressed after the scheme was gazetted in November, and accommodate the latest changes and improvement measures proposed by the MTRC.
The extension will provide convenient railway services to Ho Man Tin, Hung Hom and Whampoa, cutting traffic in those areas. Passengers from Ho Man Tin and Whampoa can reach Mong Kok within five minutes, compared to 25 minutes on road transport during rush hours.
