Canal Road Flyover to get a facelift
The public space under the Canal Road Flyover is set to receive $7.4 million makeover to improve the environment and pedestrian flow in the area. The facelift will be based on the 24 Solar Terms, a traditional calendar of 24 periods and climate governing agricultural arrangements in ancient China.
The works will include demolishing the existing sitting-out area, repaving the footpath and installing railings, bollards and cladding. Graphic representations of the 24 terms will be inscribed on the aluminium cladding and illuminated with spotlights. A stainless-steel tablet will be installed outlining the solar terms.
Being one of the Wan Chai District Council's environmental improvement projects, the revamp will be completed by the end of this year.
