GEBT 2023 to highlight green development and promote cross-industry cooperation
China's building industry is proactively working towards reducing its carbon emissions in line with the country's carbon peak and carbon neutrality goals. In this regard, the 20th edition of Guangzhou Electrical Building Technology (GEBT) will take place from 9 to 12 June 2023 at the China Import and Export Fair Complex, with its wide array of fringe events, focusing on recent industry topics such as green buildings, low-carbon emissions and cross-industry cooperation.
Concurrently held with the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition (GILE), the two fairs are expected to host more than 3,000 domestic and international exhibitors across 22 halls, sending out a positive signal of the industry’s recovery.
The 14th Five-Year Plan (FYP) put forward by the Chinese Government includes clear targets to reduce carbon emissions, which the building and real estate sectors are key industries that support this. The plan suggests that all new buildings in Chinese urban areas should be constructed in accordance with green building standards by 2025, to effectively control the growth of carbon emissions.
Meanwhile, implementing intelligent building technology is one of the major driving forces of green transformation within the industry. At the end of last year, 24 cities, including Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou and Qingdao, were announced to become pilot cities for intelligent construction, to encourage the industry towards green transformation and create more business opportunities.
Ms Lucia Wong, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd said: “GEBT has always been an ideal platform for leading players in the intelligent building and electrical engineering industry to expand their business networks. The significant rebound in exhibitor numbers at this year's show indicates that there is confidence in the industry's prospects. At the same time, echoing the Chinese government’s green policies, we are looking forward to meeting all of our peers at the fairground to explore the future of green development.”

GEBT expands to cover four major industry sectors
The two fairs will take place concurrently in areas A, B, and D of the China Import and Export Fair Complex to promote cross-industry exchange and cooperation. Among the 22 halls, GEBT will be located in hall 5.2 in area A and halls 11.2 and 11.3 in Zone B.
This year's GEBT will cover four sectors, namely home automation, intelligent building, smart audio & visual and smart energy saving technologies, leading each of them towards green transformation and increased cross-industry cooperation.

Fringe events to explore latest industry trends
At the same time, a number of experts will attend different forums and summits to offer their views on recent industry trends and innovations. Highlights include:
