Kwu Tung Station works to begin

Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung recently said the construction works of Kwu Tung (KTU) Station under the Northern Link project are expected to start in mid-2023 for completion in 2027.

Taking into account the development pace along the Northern Link (NOL) project, he said the Government will first begin construction of KTU Station on the East Rail Line's Lok Ma Chau Spur Line, followed by the main line connection progressively.
KTU Station's detailed design has been substantially completed, he added. In view of the complexity of the works as well as the time required for detailed planning and design, construction of the NOL Main Line project is anticipated to start in 2025 for completion in 2034.
The transport chief added that the completed NOL together with the existing East Rail Line and Tuen Ma Line will form a railway loop linking up the New Territories and Kowloon.
The loop will not only improve the railway connection between the New Territories East and the New Territories West, serving the Kwu Tung North New Development Area and the San Tin Technopole, but also unleash the potential of land around Au Tau, Ngau Tam Mei and San Tin, driving the developments in these areas.
Mr Lam also said the Government will continue to closely monitor the works progress for early commissioning and provision of service.
Before the commissioning of the NOL, relevant departments will take into account the transport need of the population intake and co-ordinate with public transport operators for provision of sufficient public transport services.
