2 sites to be resumed for residential use

On September 4, the Lands Department announced the resumption of land in Sai Ying Pun and Tai Kok Tsui to carry out two urban renewal development projects.
The sites located at Sung Hing Lane/Kwai Heung Street in Sai Ying Pun and Oak Street/Ivy Street in Tai Kok Tsui will be redeveloped for residential use. These projects were included in the Urban Renewal Authority's Business Plan for 2017-18.
The project site in Sai Ying Pun, with an area of about 1,120 sq m, will involve the resumption of 101 private property interests. For the project site in Tai Kok Tsui, covering an area of about 820 sq m, a total of 64 private property interests will be resumed.
The affected interests will revert to the Government three months from the date on which the resumption notices are affixed on-site. Eligible domestic property owners will, apart from statutory compensation, be offered an ex-gratia home purchase allowance or supplementary allowance. Eligible domestic tenants will be offered rehousing to public rental housing units or an ex-gratia cash allowance.
For eligible commercial property occupiers, they may choose an ex-gratia allowance in lieu of the right to claim statutory compensation for business and related losses.
