Boundary works contract awarded

The Civil Engineering & Development Department awarded a $510 million contract on March 28, 2013 for the site formation works of the Liantang/Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point project.
It is the first of four main civil engineering contracts for the project, which will develop a new boundary control point in Ta Kwu Ling. It will link to Fanling Highway via an 11km dual two-lane connecting road.
The control point will be the seventh land crossing between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, providing efficient access to eastern Guangdong and adjacent provinces, and facilitating future regional co-operation and development. The connection road will also provide convenient access to local road networks and future developments in North District, and improve the overall transport network in adjoining areas.

The awarded contract involves the formation of 23 hectares of land for the control point and modification works to Lin Ma Hang Road. Work will start in April 2013 for completion in mid-2015.
