URA Sham Shui Po redevelopment project commenced
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) began planning a redevelopment project at Tonkin Street and Fuk Wing Street in Sham Shui Po. The project will cover an area of about 1,270 square metres. The authority has 14 other redevelopment projects in the district.
The authority's Director (Planning & Design) Michael Ma said the authority plans to provide about 7,460 square metres of residential floor area for 145 small to medium flats, including units on lower levels to be reserved for a 'flat-for-flat' option.
The new development will also provide about 1,490 square metres of commercial floor area. It is tentatively scheduled for completion by 2020-2021, he added. The project's total development cost is estimated to reach $1.03 billion.
The project affects an estimated total of 83 property interests, 110 households and 27 business operators and premises. A notice announcing the project's commencement was gazetted on March 8.
