Capital works expenditure exceeds $70 billion in coming year

The government announced the estimated capital works expenditure for 2013-14 will exceed $70 billion. By late March, the total commitments for capital projects are expected to be over $310 billion.

The government is conducting a study to examine the technical feasibility and assess the environmental impact of the proposed construction of Container Terminal 10 on Tsing Yi. It will also seek funding approval for the detailed design of a second tunnel linking Tseung Kwan O and urban Kowloon.

Others measures include using $20 billion for the construction and refurbishment of several public hospitals and clinics, including the construction of Tin Shui Wai Hospital and the Centre of Excellence in Paediatrics, the refurbishment of Hong Kong Buddhist Hospital and the reprovisioning of the Yau Ma Tei Specialist Clinic.
