Domaine Chandon builds its winery in Yinchuan

Domaine Chandon (Ningxia) Winery is building a modern winery, designed to the highest international standards in Yinchuan, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China. This follows on from the announcement in 2011 of the formation of a viticultural JV between Moet Hennessy and Nongken, which Moet Hennessy expressed its intention to create a winery for the Chandon brand in China.
     "
Given the most advanced expertise of viticulture and vineyard management as well as our ability to source high quality grapes in the region, we are confident Chandon (Ningxia) Winery will become recognized as China's benchmark producer of premium sparkling wines." Mr Shen Yang, Estate Director of Domaine Chandon (NingXia) MH, said.

In keeping with the prestigious nature of the Chandon brand, an international architectectural firm, was commissioned to design the winery. With a strongly modernist design, the design expresses the forward looking nature of this project. The winery is beautifully situated close to the Helan Mountain.

Mr Mark F Bedingham, the Regional Managing Director of Moet Hennessy Asia Pacific said: "We're excited to announce the next phase in the development of the Chandon winery in Ningxia; taking us a step closer to being able to release our first wine. I would also like to record our appreciation for the great assistance that we have received from our viticultural JV partner, Nongken, in moving this project forward."

The project is designed by MAP Architecture & Planning Ltd and construction has begun in April 2012 with the expectation of the first sparkling wine release in 2014.
