Lane Crawford Joyce Group unveiled dynamic headquarters
The Lane Crawford Joyce Group has unveiled its dynamic new headquarters, bringing its four companies - multi-brand retailers Lane Crawford and Joyce, fashion footwear, bags and accessories specialist Pedder Group, and brand management and distribution arm ImagineX Group - together for the first time under one roof.
The group's new home marks a new era of collaborative partnership across the companies, as they each embark on a phase of business development, and growth in the region. As creativity and innovation are core strengths of each of the companies, the space has been designed to both inspire and facilitate this way of working.
The new workspace is located in Wong Chuk Hang, Aberdeen on Hong Kong Island's south side. With the completion of the Mass Transit Rail in 2015, the area is transforming from an industrial warehouse area to a vibrant commercial and creative district, which will be just nine minutes from the central business district.
The headquarters covers seven floors, each floor with an open plan of 25,000 square feet, in a new complex One Island South, developed by the group's corporate relative, Wheelock Properties. The head office is home to 880 employees.
The aim of the new headquarters was to break down physical barriers and allow individuals to work creatively and interact more freely - the antithesis of a conventional cubicled office. A fluid, democratic, open plan environment was created to facilitate communication and collaboration. A partition-free, wireless workspace offers staff the freedom to choose their work environment, from communal to solitary based on their specific needs. Full height glass curtain walls maximize natural light and offer breathtaking views of the South China Sea.
While the basic structure, materials and palette are common to all floors, each company's creative teams were encouraged to customise their space through the use of colour, repurposed visual merchandising from their stores, furniture procurement and special highlight areas, which characterise their unique identities within the Group family.
