E2S, Europe’s leading specialist manufacturers of audible and visual warning signals, has announced a new intrinsically safe sounder and strobe family. The IS-minialarm is a 100dB(A) sounder, the IS-minialite beacon uses an array of 6 high intensity LEDs and the IS-minialert is a combined unit with the beacon mounted in the centre of the sounder horn. All versions are of cylindrical construction measuring 88mm in diameter and are ATEX, IECEx, FM and GOST R approved.

     The IS-minialarm sounder has 49 user-selectable three-stage alarm tone configurations with an output of 100dB(A) @1m; a 4MHz clock ensures that the outputs from all sounders on a loop are synchronised. The IS-minialite beacon uses an array of ultra bright Amber, Red, Blue or Green LEDs to produce a selectable 1Hz or 2Hz flashing warning signal, giving a far brighter and more noticeable visual warning than traditional Xenon tube beacon alternatives in a hazardous area. Advanced electronics and an acoustically efficient folded horn design means that the combined unit can be powered though a single Zener barrier or galvanic isolator.

     Low current draw and high output make the units particularly applicable for use in fire systems installed in hazardous areas and for integration into process control equipment in a wide variety of manufacturing industries. The design features a common base fitted with two 20mm cable entry knockouts; the device itself is fitted to the base using a bayonet latch mechanism and a separate security screw. Connection to the control panel is via a flying lead through the base unit directly into the device.
