Two new contracts secured by Leighton Asia
Leighton Asia has been awarded two major contracts in Hong Kong with a total value of about HK$1.02 billion. In one of the largest mechanical and electrical (M&E) contracts awarded by the MTR Corporation, a Leighton Asia joint venture has secured a HK$654-million contract to provide fire services, plumbing and drainage to the West Kowloon Terminus Station. The M&E contract is the fourth Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL) contract secured by Leighton Asia and our sixth award from the MTR Corporation in two years. Under the M&E contract, Leighton Asia will be responsible for the design, manufacture, supply, installation and testing of fire services, plumbing and drainage at the West Kowloon Terminus Station. In Sai Kung, Leighton Asia is providing a new HK$363-million campus for the Hong Kong Academy that aims to set new educational and environmental standards. The 20,000-square metre five-storey school features classrooms, learning support facilities, an international standard gymnasium and a multi-use performance space containing a 350-seat auditorium and an 80-seat theatre. Green features are incorporated into the design of the school, which aims to be Gold-certified under The Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method, or HK-BEAM. The 2013 academic year will commence at the Sai Kung campus.
