Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) the sixth edition of Hong Kong International Building and Decoration Materials & Hardware Fair will be held from 27 to 29 October, 2011 at AsiaWorld-Expo. To be held concurrently with the fair is the conference on ¡°Latest Building Design Trends and the Application of Green Building Materials.¡± The conference will be held on 28 October in the afternoon from 2pm to 5pm. This year, four leading professionals in the building industry are invited to share their valuable experience on the subject.

Abstract: Innovation in design proceeds through the interaction of distinct processes which Mr Masin would summarize with technological advancement, design approach innovation and cultural changes. A unique approach for managing green buildings

Abstract: China is getting momentum in green building recently. The number of green projects has grown exponentially. While many designers/architects are focused on hardware and equipment for building green features, Jones Lang LaSalle believes that the software, which is the property management method, is just as important as the hardware for managing building efficiency. The presentation will share some of the more advance green building management tools and highlights on some major current projects.

Abstract: James Acuna, 31-year old designer from America, has made his mark designing and building commercial and hospitality projects in China and all-over Asia in the past few years. He will share with us his vision for LIFESTYLE environments; all the commercial spaces and retail spaces that inhabit our lives outside the home on a day to day basis, with case studies on THE ONE in Hong Kong, Taikoo Hui in Guangzhou, and retail masterplan for Danzishi in Chongqing. He will also introduce the 5 Elements that make up successful Retail Design and Planning.
New green building materials - the architectural potentials

Abstract: Mr Law is a Founding Director of the Oval partnership. He is also a Director of INTEGER China Ltd, an organization which promotes intelligent and green developments in China. Over the years Chris has received numerous accolades including Architects of the Year Award and the Outstanding Young Person Award in Hong Kong. In this presentation, Mr Law will share with us his experience on the architectural potentials of new green building materials.
