Radiodetection cuts Pipe Corrosion Mapping time with the launch of PCM+
Radiodetection is pleased to announce the launch of the PCM+ (Pipeline Current Mapper) which offers even more flexibility and accuracy for corrosion analysis than previously available by fully integrating PCM and location technology into one product. Combined with its new high performance transmitter the PCM+ accurately and easily locates and maps the pipeline for up to 19 miles, providing simultaneous measurement of PCM current (ACCA) and voltage Gradient (ACVG), even in areas where there is contact with other metallic structures, interference, or congestion. This eliminates the need for the pipeline technician to perform direct connection 'current spans' and manual calculations to determine CP currents along the pipeline reducing false indications and minimizing unnecessary excavations. Any current leakage fault in the pipeline coating can be further narrowed down to within 3 feet by use of the A frame. PCM+ will perform a current map measurement in 3 seconds and each time the PCM+ maps, as well as storing and displaying the information on the Receiver, it offers seamless update of logged current map information via Bluetooth®( to either a PDA (to integrate with GPS data) or a PC for post mapping analysis using industry standard GIS tools. Data is sent after each measurement or as a complete data log after the mapping survey has been finished and can be up to 1,000 records. To support data transfer and graphical plotting, Radiodetection offers a free open-source program that works on Windows Mobile® 5 and Windows® XP, which displays all the data, logged by the PCM+ and GPS. Cutting edge technology within the new PCM+ ensures the fastest possible processing of data. Combining exceptionally fast sound and bargraph response, with a sharp cut off either side of the locate position leads to improved precision pinpointing. In addition, built in Automatic Signal Attenuation (ASA), Adaptive Ground Compensation (AGC) and identification of pickup/discharge from 3rd party CP systems, puts the pipe technician in complete control, confident in the accuracy of his measurements.
