Dow shares its achievements and experience in technological innovation and sustainability at the Window Door Façade Expo China 2024.
Leading material science company Dow (NYSE: DOW) showcases its cutting-edge technology and solutions at the Window Door Façade Expo China 2024 from March 11 to 13. During the event, Dow will launch the industry’s first-ever Carbon-Neutral Silicone Service for Building Façades, which features the first carbon-neutral silicones for façade structural glazing, insulating glass and weather sealing.
Dow’s long-standing position as an industry leader in silicone was further solidified during the Expo where the company received the Polaris Award for its DOWSIL™ 991 Silicone High Performance Sealant. This prestigious award focuses on promoting innovation in China's construction industry. Dow received this significant recognition for its persistent exploration and innovation in the doors, windows, and façade segments.

“This year is the Expo’s 30th anniversary and it has been an honor to witness the event grow to what it has become today, since Dow first participated over 18 years ago,” said Jean Paul Hautekeer, Global Strategic Marketing Director, Dow Building & Infrastructure. “This event provides a fantastic opportunity for Dow to showcase our leading portfolio, engage with key industry stakeholders and develop meaningful partnerships. This is a particularly exciting time for us here in China where we have the chance to make a positive difference by supporting China’s building and construction industry to adopt sustainable practices with our advanced technologies.”
“Today, we launched our Carbon-Neutral Silicone Service, which will further empower our partners to meet China’s ‘Dual-Carbon’ targets as they transition from rapid expansion to a greater focus on quality,” Hautekeer added. “We are committed to supporting the long-term sustainable development of China’s building and construction industry and look forward to building a greener future together.”

Press conference | Q & A Session

What is the status of Dow Carbon-Neutral Silicone Service for Building Façades in the Chinese market? And how does it compare with developed countries?

In the Chinese market, we have observed that China's building and real estate industry is transitioning from rapid expansion to a new era focused on quality, innovation, and sustainable development. Simultaneously, renewable and circular methods are increasingly gaining global attention across the entire construction sector. In the Chinese market, we have noticed that China's building and real estate industry is transitioning from rapid expansion to a new era prioritizing quality, innovation, and sustainable development. Meanwhile, renewable and circular practices are increasingly capturing global attention across the entire construction field. This trend signals a gradual progression in the building industry from low-carbon structures towards circular buildings, undoubtedly marking the trend in this sector. Notably, there aren't significant differences between regions in this aspect, reflecting a high level of global consistency in the focus and demand for carbon neutrality.
Dow’s Carbon-Neutral Silicone Service is a global solution, and we did not tailor the launch in different countries. Products could be slightly different among regions, as we have made localized adjustments to our products to better serve the Chinese market. Although the launch started earlier in Europe, the needs for and awareness of carbon neutrality are quite similar on a global scale. This allows our services to be smoothly launched worldwide, providing robust support for the building industry in more countries and regions.

Could you please provide a brief introduction to the successful projects in China where Dow Carbon-Neutral Silicone Service for Building Façades has been implemented?

On March 11th, we formally launched the industry’s first-ever Carbon-Neutral Silicone Service for Building Façades at the Window Door Facade Expo China 2024. So far, we do not have any actual projects or clients in the Chinese market. We are confident and look forward to providing professional and high-quality services to more customers and promoting the sustainable development of the construction industry in the future.
